On Listed Telephone Numbers
I got a huge kick out of this... the woman in the following recording is the wife of Dean Tisdadt, the COO of the Fairfax County, VA school system. She returned a telephone call from a prankster seventeen-year-old kid who called the Tisdadt home to complain about his decision to keep schools open despite a snowstorm.
The YouTube file has since been deleted, but here's a link to it on another site.
One reported item includes this statement: "The Tistadts received dozens more calls that day and night, Dean Tistadt said. Most were hang-ups, but at one point, they were coming every five minutes." So, I guess Mrs. Tisdadt was angry.
I have an idea - if someone is prank calling your house, try taking the phone off the hook! If it continues, or if you happen to be in a profession that involves high school students (who are going to, um, prank call people), perhaps you might consider NOT listing your telephone number! Good Lord... even MY phone number isn't listed and I don't think there's even anyone out there who'd want to find it.
These people are idiots for expecting that a listed telephone number would not be called. Mrs. Tisdadt, in particular, is an idiot for leaving this message on the voice mail of a kid who grew up in the Information Age. In addition to posting this file on YouTube, the kid also apparently made up a Facebook page with all of their contact information. Nice going, lady! Now you and your husband are famous!
I'll bet their number isn't listed anymore.
