Because you don't need coffee when you're on crystal meth...
The San Diego Union Tribune today reported that 12 area Starbucks locations will soon be closed as part of the company-wide downsizing that will cut more than 600 stores from its inventory.
If you don't live in San Diego, that list won't make much sense to you. But let me tell you this... I'm not at all surprised, because they're each located in one of the ghettos in America's Finest City. Two of them... 30th/El Cajon Blvd. and Park/University Ave. are within a mile or so of my old house. In fact, I frequented the first of those two MANY times while I lived there, often crossing a late night/early morning line of hookers on my way in.
I'd like to make special note of the fact that the location at 30th/University Ave., which is right across the street from the lovely independent coffee house, Claire de Lune, isn't closing. I'm sure Claire de Lune is really stoked about that.
Good times, good times.
